Built in 1970, Kona Kahlua highlights the true style of mid-century modern design. With a nod to the past, Kona Kahlua has been revitalised with a nostalgic nod to the history of the area. Prior to Kona Kahlua, the area was known as ‘The Oaks’ a place where the Leggett’s, of Leggett’s Ballroom, came to relax and play. While this era is long past, there is a bohemian spirit to the area, with Leggett’s Ballroom having been where Melbourne icons danced the night away. In time, Leggett’s Ballroom came to pass, but the stories live on.
